Police and Crime Panel

The Police and Crime Commissioner is scrutinised by a police and crime panel (PCP) comprising fifteen representatives from the unitary, shire and district / borough councils in West Mercia and two independent members.

 Worcestershire County Council is responsible for the oversight and administration of the panel. Detail of panel members, meetings and reports etc can be found on County Council’s website.

Joint Audit and Standards Committee

The West Mercia Joint Audit and Standard Committee was established in April 2020 (previously the Warwickshire & West Mercia Alliance Joint Audit and Standard Committee).

 The Home Office Financial Management Code of Practice, issued under the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011, states that the Police and Crime Commissioner and Chief Constable should establish an independent Audit Committee.

 The role of the committee is to advise the Police and Crime Commissioner and the Chief Constable according to good governance principals, adopt appropriate risk management arrangements and to consider issues of standards, ethics and integrity. The committee also considers reports from internal and external audit bodies of both the PCC and the Chief Constable.

Per the ToR there are five independent members of the audit committee. The current members are:

• Trevor Purt
• Mohammed Ismail

In accordance with the ToR, the committee meets at least four times a year.
