PCC opens £150k grant to support healthy relationships in young people

Violence against women and girls is rightly under the spotlight with offences rising across the country.
In West Mercia, Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion continues to hear from victims and those impacted about the importance of tackling this behaviour at its root.
As part of that journey, the PCC has opened a £150,000 grant round focused on building healthy positive relationships – to take from childhood right through to adulthood.
The funding pot is open to providers and community organisations who will deliver projects focused on relationship education, emotional wellbeing and good communication.
Successful bids will see work delivered to a wide range of young people from those in mainstream education, those who are home educated, not in education, employment or training, or excluded.
PCC John Campion said: “Supporting young people to understand early on what a healthy relationship looks like – and the signs to be aware of – is incredibly important. We know that harm is increasingly being caused to women and girls, disproportionately by men, and it’s vital that action is taken to address it.
“As PCC, tackling violence against women and girls is a key commitment within my Safer Communities Plan, and education is one of the most effective ways to make a difference. This grant round gives organisations and communities the opportunity to deliver programmes that can have a real impact.”
Applications close at midday on Monday 2 November. Find out more.
