Vast majority of residents have confidence in West Mercia Police in Worcestershire
Confidence in West Mercia Police remains high in Worcestershire, according to the latest results from Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion’s perceptions survey.
In North Worcestershire and South Worcestershire, 81% of residents who completed the survey have confidence in the force – remaining stable over the past twelve months.
With anti-social behaviour often raised as a top concern for the public, around three quarters of respondents also felt anti-social behaviour is not a problem in their area, 71% in North Worcestershire and 77% in South Worcestershire.
However, despite record numbers of police officers being delivered by the PCC and a small increase in the number of people who said they see an officer or PCSO weekly, satisfaction in policing levels have fallen. With a 11% decrease in the North of the county to 53%, and 5% in the South to 55%.
Other findings include:
- 47% are informed about the work West Mercia Police is doing in their area – 7% drop in North Worcestershire and 4% in South Worcestershire.
- 85% of those surveyed said they felt their area was safe over the last 3 months.
PCC John Campion said: “It’s encouraging to see that confidence in West Mercia Police remains strong across Worcestershire, with the vast majority of residents feeling safe and reassured in their communities.
“While there are green shoots of progress, these results also highlight areas where we must do more to improve satisfaction and communication.
“I remain committed to listening to the public and working with the force to ensure policing continues to meet the needs of every resident.”
