Have your say on policing, says Commissioner

PCC John Campion is calling for more people to have their say on policing after more than 1,000 West Mercia residents respond to his public survey.

Ahead of setting next year’s policing budget, the PCC wants to hear from communities across the three counties. Residents of Herefordshire, Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Worcestershire residents have two weeks left to give their views via a public survey (the survey closes on Monday 2nd November).

With Covid placing an impact on the economy, and wider public finances, there are greater uncertainties than usual as we head towards next year’s policing budget. Therefore, the PCC wants to ensure that, when it comes to it, the public’s views are at the heart of his decision making.

The survey is asking people about their priorities, what it’s like in their community from a policing perspective, and in which areas of policing would they choose to spend more or less money.

PCC John Campion said: “I’m pleased that so many people have already taken the opportunity to have their say but, with a population of over one million, I’d like to hear from more. This is a chance for me to hear the views of the public. I want to understand priorities people have and ensure they are at the heart of decisions I make.

“I would encourage all residents to take part, and answer all questions, so I can use the feedback to help shape the future of policing, including which areas receive investment.”
