PCC gives violence against women and girls the red card
With the World Cup on the horizon – a moment many hope will see the trophy come home – it is also a time when women and girls face increased fear, knowing their abuser may return home after the final whistle.
Committed to giving violence against women and girls the red card, Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion funds a range of services focused on supporting victims, changing harmful behaviour, and preventing abuse from happening in the first place.
Available across West Mercia, a full list of commissioned domestic abuse and sexual violence services can be found on the West Mercia PCC website – What are we funding? | West Mercia PCC
PCC John Campion said: “The spectacle of the World Cup is a moment of excitement for many – but for some, it brings fear. Too many women and girls across West Mercia are subject to abuse, often behind closed doors, and that is simply unacceptable.
“No one should ever suffer abuse. But to achieve that, we need a cultural shift – one that tackles harmful attitudes at their root and challenges behaviour long before it escalates into violence.
“As PCC, I remain absolutely committed to protecting victims and survivors. I will continue to invest in specialist services, strengthen prevention, and ensure those who experience abuse get the support they need and the justice they deserve.”
