PCC launches new plan to deliver a safer West Mercia

Commissioner John Campion is launching his plan to deliver a safer West Mercia, and giving communities the chance to shape the final version.

As the Police and Crime Commissioner enters his second term in office, he is building on the vision and promises he set out in 2016 to ensure the community are at the heart of policing. He is also developing his four main aims in his Safer West Mercia Plan: putting victims and survivors first; building a more secure West Mercia; reforming West Mercia; and reassuring West Mercia’s communities.

As part of a consultation to gather views, the public can now have their say on the focus for policing in the coming years and how it will benefit the communities of West Mercia.

John Campion said: “I have made clear promises to the communities of Shropshire, Herefordshire, Telford & Wrekin and Worcestershire and this plan will make good those promises. Now is the time to build on the investment, tough decisions and progress we’ve made, for the benefit of the communities, and take it to the next level. Our communities rightly expect a police service they can access and trust, and they expect to feel safer where they live and work. There is always more that can be done and I will continue to be relentless in my drive to see that happen.

“I am encouraging people to take this opportunity to influence policing within West Mercia. Whilst I have been mindful of a huge amount of feedback from the community in drawing up my plan, I want to make sure everyone has the chance to have their say.”

The consultation is open now and will close on Monday 1st November 2021.
