Armed Forces honoured in Malvern ceremony led by PCC
Marking the enduring bond between the Armed Forces and West Mercia Police, a poignant Remembrance ceremony was held at Malvern Police Station on Tuesday 11 November.
The event was the culmination of Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion’s Pin Your Poppy project, which saw six Unknown Tommy soldier statues proudly displayed outside the station, adorned with handmade poppies crafted by communities across West Mercia.
Hosted by the PCC and led by Reverend Lowe of Great Malvern Priory, the ceremony brought together senior Malvern police officers, Armed Forces veterans now serving in the force, the High Sheriff of Worcestershire, the Mayor of Malvern, representatives from Remember Veterans, and local schoolchildren – all united in paying their respects.
In West Mercia, the PCC funds the Remember Veterans service, which supports former Armed Forces personnel in their transition back into civilian life, helping them to reintegrate and avoid pathways that lead to crime.
Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion said: “The democracy and freedoms we enjoy today are built on the courage and sacrifice of those who served.
“Three years ago, I launched the Pin Your Poppy project to bring communities together in remembrance and to honour the deep-rooted connection between West Mercia Police and the military.
“Each year, I’m moved by the creativity and heartfelt contributions from across our communities, which serve as a powerful tribute to our nation’s heroes.”
