PCC launches annual survey to give town and parish councils opportunity to have their say
In its eighth year, Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion has launched his latest town and parish council survey.
Delivering on the PCC’s ‘Policing with the community’ commitment, set out in his Safer Communities Plan, the survey encourages town and parish councils to feedback on local policing, share concerns and identify what improvements they would like to see.
More than 120 councils had their say last year, which showed councils feel visibility of police officers has slightly improved, with a 5% drop in the number who feel presence is poor, and police contact to identify council priorities is at its highest level (84%), increasing by 26% since 2021.
After working closely with the PCC, West Mercia Police launched its refreshed Local Policing Charter in March which outlined its three priorities – visibility, accessibility and engagement.
And whilst its launch was only four months ago, this survey is an opportunity for town and parish councils to feedback how they feel West Mercia Police is doing and whether they feel improvements are being made.
Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion said: “I believe it’s vitally important that organisations imbedded in their community, who have a deep understanding of local concerns, are listened to.
“That’s why I am calling on town and parish councils to complete my survey so I can ensure their views continue to help shape the future of policing in West Mercia.
“Since I launched the survey, I have listened and delivered on calls for change and there are green shoots of progress. I want to build further on that momentum as I remain committed to ensuring West Mercia Police delivers a service more of our communities can have greater confidence in.”
