PCC launches road safety poster competition for schools
PCC John Campion is launching a poster competition for schools across West Mercia to show what road safety means to them.
As part of the PCC’s ongoing commitment to improve road safety, he is encouraging primary school pupils to create educational posters showing how they get to school safely, with a chance of winning a mini-police officer to place outside their school.
The PCC regularly hears from people about their road safety concerns, now it’s time for the young people of West Mercia to help highlight their road safety concerns.
All posters created will be shared with local policing teams and shared online to remind parents, and other road users, of the importance of driving safely, particularly outside schools.
A group of schools will also win a mini-police officer for the efforts with their posters.
These signs are little mascots that make a big difference outside of schools, reminding road users to “Think before you park” or “Slow down”, and generally promote considerate behaviour.
PCC John Campion said: “I know that young people are affected by the harm caused on our roads in West Mercia.
“These posters will be a useful and creative reminder to us all on the importance of being considerate to protect our most vulnerable members of society.
“It is important we not only keep the children in our communities safe but allow them to be ambassadors for road safety improvements.”
