24/7 digital kiosk installed at Kidderminster police station

A digital kiosk to boost access to online services has been introduced outside Kidderminster’s police station.

The new kiosk is part of a commitment by Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion to ensure local communities can simply and easily access police, and specialist support services.

Websites available through the kiosk include West Mercia Police, West Mercia PCC, West Mercia Women’s Aid, CrimeStoppers, Enough, Neighbourhood Matters, Ask The Police and Victim Advice Line.

Funded by the PCC, the screen will complement the face-to-face service already offered at Kidderminster police station (Monday – Saturday 8am – 4:30pm, Sunday/Bank Holidays 10am – 4pm) as well as being accessible when the front counter is closed.

PCC John Campion said: “A key commitment in my Safer West Mercia Plan is to reform West Mercia Police by making it fit for the digital age, the new kiosk in Kidderminster is another step forward on that journey.

“By utilising the latest technology residents, who may not have access to the internet or simply want to use police or support services in a safe space, can now visit the police station at any time of the day.”

Superintendent Mel Paley, the North Worcestershire LPA commander, said: “We recognise some people may not have access to the world wide web so we hope this new kiosk will allow them the opportunity to log on to our services 24/7.

“Though our front counter remains open during the day, this contact point is handily placed outside our Kidderminster police station allowing everyone further opportunities to report a crime or access our website around the clock.”
