Opportunity to ask Commissioner questions at local events

Following the success of last year’s summer events programme, Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion will be out and about again in West Mercia to engage with local communities.

The aim of attending these events is to engage with local communities and get their feedback on local priorities around policing and crime. This year, the Commissioner will also be asking members of the public to put forward questions they’d like to be put to the Chief Constable during an official ‘holding to account’ meeting in June.

The event programme for this year is as follows:

The Shropshire County Show, Shropshire – Saturday 26 MayHereford Food Festival, Herefordshire – Saturday 9 JuneNewport Show, Telford & Wrekin – Saturday 7 JulyPershore Plum Festival, Worcestershire – Monday 27 AugustLudlow Food Festival, Shropshire – Saturday 8 September

There will be a West Mercia PCC stand at every event which will allow John, Tracey and the Community Ambassadors to meet with as many people as possible. It will also give those people the chance to ask any questions or raise any concerns they may have. Or, for those who aren’t familiar with John and his role, there’ll be an opportunity to gain more understanding.

John Campion said: “Last year’s summer events were a great success. We engaged with hundreds of people and had the opportunity to listen to their concerns and address key issues within their community. West Mercia has a population of 1.2 million, which can make it very hard to reach all communities. However, with these events attracting thousands, it makes reaching the vast population a little easier!

“I promised to sustain and extend relationships with our communities by improving engagement, visibility and accessibility. This is one way that I am delivering on that promise and ensuring people have a strong voice around policing and crime. If anyone is planning on coming to any of the events, please drop by and say hello.”
